CASA’s immigration assistance and form preparation service provides clients with guidance and assistance in submitting immigration applications to USCIS. Our group of specially certified paralegals provide this service together with the support of our team of attorneys.

Starting October 12th, our staff of paralegals is offering immigration consultations Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm. We encourage you to separate your appointment with our receptionist calling 305-463-7468 or sending an email to info@casa-us.org. However, remember that walk-ins are also welcomed (First come, first served).

Educational Services

At CASA we developed the following entrepreneur workshops to enables our clients to be competitive and resourceful in their desire to start or maintain their own business:

1. Finance and accounting: Our finances classes teach them to balancing a budget, improve their credit, pay out their loans, etc. More specifically, in our financial literacy seminars will teach entrepreneurs time value of money and the optimal capital structure. In our tax preparation classes for individuals and businesses, we provide basic understanding of type of entity, election of the fiscal year, retirement planning, net operating losses, among others.
Our accounting teaching is focused on QuickBooks, the most useful accounting program in United States. Our workshops are divided in 3 levels (basic, intermediate and advanced). At year, we serve around 250 people in this specific type of education.

2. Marketing: The specialization of our teaching in marketing is in the online or digital advertising. Thanks to our marketing classes, the entrepreneur gain insights by conducting research into how to promote their products in internet using new platforms such as social media, WordPress, Google Campaigns, Email & Inbound marketing, etc. Our clients also learn how to develop a marketing campaign and how to engage your audience according to the new technological challenges

3. Leadership and Management: In our Cultural Fridays we specialize in leadership techniques so these business people can being an effective and efficient leader. They learn how to communicate properly with team members when delivering criticism, how to encourage their team to reach specific operational and financial goals.

4 English Communication Skills: because the vast majority of our clients came to United States being adults, their English development is limited. They have an academic background so they have enough basics in the language but unfortunately they have problems expressing themselves orally in English. Being aware of this challenge, CASA has created their English Conversation Club, which are designed to help our entrepreneurs clients to improve their fluency and the communication with American market reducing their accent.

QuickBooks Workshops

We invite you to join our QuickBooks Training Workshops. Each workshop has a value of $ 85 but if you sign up for the complete cycle you receive a discount of 13% for the 3 workshops (the discount price per workshop registration by applying to the entire cycle is $ 74). If we have a very large group that enrolls 3 workshops, we reserve the right to receive students only for one workshop. Call us to confirm if we accept students who enroll only one level.

Legal Assistance for Victims

Our Legal Assistance for Victims Project works with immigrants of any gender who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, or violent crime.

Refugees and immigrants are particularly vulnerable to certain types of abuse and exploitation, and they face unique problems in gaining protection from violence. Threats of deportation often prevent victims from reporting abuse or exploitation, and domestic violence poses particular challenges for immigrants whose legal status depends on an abusive U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident spouse. To counteract these challenges and encourage immigrants seek help and report their victimization, federal law provides specific protections for victims of violence through the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA). The VAWA self petition and and U visa for victims of crime are two of these protections.

Working closely with law enforcement officials, CASA provides assistance in reporting abuse, obtaining restraining orders, and preparing VAWA and U-Visa applications.

VAWA

If the battered victim is the child or spouse of an abusive U.S. Citizen or permanent resident, he or she may be eligible to self-petition under VAWA. The self-petitioning process enables a battered spouse or child of an abusive U.S. citizen or permanent resident to apply for legal status without the sponsorship or knowledge of the abuser. Through this process the self-petitioner may receive employment authorization and access public benefits benefits.

U-Visa

Immigrant victims of certain crimes (including domestic violence and sexual assault) who cooperate with law enforcement in the investigation and/or prosecution of the crime may be eligible for a U-Visa. The person must be the victim, or “indirect victim” of the crime, cooperate with law enforcement in the investigation of the crime and show that they have suffered on account of the crime. In addition to meeting other requirements, the applicant must submit certification from a law enforcement official, prosecutor, or other certifying agency, confirming that they have been, are being, or are likely to be helpful in the detection, investigation, or prosecution of a crime.There is an annual limit of 10,000 U visas. If no visa number is available at the time the application is approved, the applicant is put on a waiting list and given temporary immigration status until a number becomes available.

CASA’s attorneys provide legal counseling, representation, and referrals, and work closely with CVAC (The Coordinated Victims Assistance Center) and other partner agencies to provide comprehensive assistance through links to emergency shelters, mental health counseling, social and financial services, daycare and preschool referrals, and other resources.
